Rishikesh a place of heaven

guys how's it going I'm walking along here along the Ganges towards the ROM jula Bridge up there again there is the ROM Jula bridge and so I've posted a number of videos from Rishikesh here however as I have mentioned in some of those videos this is not actually the town of Rishikesh this area is called swarth ashram it is this neighborhood on this side of the Ganges River here the Ganga where many of the ashrams and temples and restaurants and guest houses are spread along the river going up that way towards the Laxman jhula bridge which is where I'm staying but the actual town of Rishikesh itself is downriver down the Ganges here a couple of miles or kilometers and so today I'm going to give a little tour of the town of Rishikesh itself because I'm going into town to do some shopping so I'm going to get over the rom to the bridge there get onto the other side and catch a tempo which is a shared rickshaw there cheaper than if you pay for a rich all yourself catch a tempo in the title and so this is the Iran jeweler bridge looking up into the foothills of the Himalayan mountains that away and downstream the plains of India that way some massive massive fishes down there they're like three feet long or something no thank you no thank you you can feed the fish yeah yeah check it out they're huge yeah and so if you click on this video expecting to see a tour of the area where you are more likely to stay the area across the river there then I just made a video showing like the expenses here in rich cash then I just made a video showing how expensive things are then I just made a video showing how expensive things are here in Rishikesh and giving a tour of this whole area around you then I just made a video showing I just made a video showing how expensive is Rishikesh and giving a tour of the area over here sparked a strong and Laxman jhula and the around you the area check the links down below this video you can watch that video if that's more what you were interested in I'm not going to get up to where I can catch the tempo and get into town and so here's where you get to all the riches and these rickshaw guys are gonna try to overcharge you as a foreigner but tempo tempo but I'm going to stick with the tempo which will be a lot cheaper this might be one tempo tempo booth tempo no no temple with you guys and for the town and so I only had a hundred rupee note and he didn't have change so he didn't charge me forget about it that was three I feel a little bad but there was nothing I could do I didn't have ten rupees so going to uh show some of these colorful food markets alright let's walk down here and check things out hello hello and I'm let's say and so this is kind of cool when I was here in Rishikesh seven years ago and I took a photo of a man walking in front of this archway here that turned out pretty cool and so I'm just going to wander down here randomly and just give a little taste of the town and so as you can see even a small town in India is still pretty busy and a little chaotic all right going to turn on this nice quiet alley here head down this way and then get back over to the main road and then head back in the direction of Schwarz ashram so the main reason that I wanted to come into town today is to check out cameras get a new camera in addition to my GoPro here but I stopped in to a camera shop and they had a very meager collection of just a few Canon cameras one roto something okay we'll check up there but I might just have to go to Delhi for camera shopping so this is actually a photocopy place not cameras hello nice looking bikes head down here I think that must be Jesus maybe it's a poster for you know some Christian Church or I don't know a local apartment complex a horse just hanging out not tied to any banner and another one or maybe a mule and back to the main road here I'm going to ahead that it's directed right there isn't a whole lot to you know see your show here as far as like sites or whatever you can maybe sort of get the impression why people stay on the other side of the river it's just totally different over there still it's you know a relatively mellow Indian town and certainly interesting for some exploring and just to get a little and just to get a little taste of the scene beyond the tourist zone of Soares ramen Lots Manjula there's an awesome here the sri Jayram yoga ashram let's see if i can poke my head in there and just get a little glimpse of it at least Chiba on top there also what I wanted to do is get into some of these back neighborhoods and give a little taste of the sort of quieter residential area and this looks like a good place to do that so I'll just walk along here and see what I see up there is Sai Baba however if you have heard of Sai Baba before and are thinking of that guy with the big afro who died like in 2011 I think that is not him that guy was claiming to be the reincarnation of this Sai Baba and so that is the original Sai Baba who was highly revered throughout India he was born in the 18th century or the 19th the 1800s the 19th century died in like the early 20th century and then the other side baba was born like a few years after him so I guess it's possible that he was in fact the reincarnation of the 1st Sai Baba who the heck knows but alright so I guess this is that uh char wow this is an amazing painting here I wonder if it's a mount Kyle Ashe and manse are of our lake or maybe actually it's just this is the Ganges here coming out of the mountains maybe this is just showing Rishikesh actually not sure the Ganges is right out there maybe I'll get a better look at it a little bit farther down here so this is quite a different market area little Melroy down here if you're looking for the real Indian crisis this is a good place I can get a nice close-up view of the Ganges up ahead and so this is another place that the our key ceremony happens I made a video showing the our key ceremony up at waaargh ashram but there's also one here on the Ganges every evening at sunset namaste how do and so the our tea ceremony is a evening prayer ceremony on the Ganga the Ganges just kind of praying to the Hindu gods and asking for blessings here you have a Shiva Lingam and Ganesha I'm not sure about that one right there this one with three heads that wonder if that is the srimurti of Brahma Vishnu and Shiva not sure Nandi the bull and this is definitely Shiva and I would guess Parvati and the Ganga coming out of the Himalayas and the four temples you can see little temples peeking out from behind some of the mountains there there are four sacred temples back in the Himalayas it is called the Char Dham pilgrimage Charming's for and so there are four sacred special temples that Hindus will try to travel to that are way back up into Himalayas I haven't actually been to any of the temples but I've been close to one of them and like sort of close to another one they are Badrinath Kedarnath yamanotri and forget the other one and here's the Ganga relatively small here in Rishikesh compared to further downstream and like Varanasi your Allahabad and here again we have the three headed figure is it three murti Trimurti okay they've three-day but one yes Brahma Vishnu Shiva and so I think but you can just keep on walking this way and I've to get back up to where I'm trying to get to Swarga Raman the bridge is up there by going along this walkway and then I guess it comes back to the road I think so I'll just keep walking this way and see how far it goes so we've got some cricket matches going on here those are the stakes a game that I am very not acquainted with I know just kind of the general idea I've seen some cricket matches but I've never like fully understood it but it is a national craze Indians are very very enthusiastic about their cricket and so this is basically a slum on the left you could say I mean maybe there's a better word or whatever but he walkway keeps going up that way hang inside if I should just get up to the road this here is a pretty weather to just like walk all the way up this riverbed straight up ahead I can see the road that bridge that I showed actually in the video from the other side but I'm not actually sure how I would actually get up to the bridge that way anyways and this is just a pretty crazy scene so I'm just going to keep on going along the walkway there and then I should find a little bit better spa to get back up to the road all right and from here I can walk up this more proper Road but this gives a good little taste of the regular neighborhoods of Rishikesh here hello namaste I'm good how are you America yes yeah you live here yeah yeah I stay smart ashram much much Judah San Francisco yeah you know Hollywood Hollywood Hollywood near Hollywood Los Angeles San Francisco in California California is the state like butta Uttar Pradesh Uttar Pradesh States California state is big yes San Francisco Los Angeles big cities no US dollars only rupees yes no because here I need rupees and so I go to the bank that ATM and ATM card and rupees yeah I see you never seen it's green it's like this color all right where are we pretty sure this road here will head back up to the main drag ooh there's a temple up ahead hello yeah this way how do I know where I'm going I do have a pretty good sense of direction but despite my solution whatever direction I am a little lost let's see where this goes it's turned into quite amazed easier I did get confirmation from some guys the road is down here somewhere maybe Duncan this way to this this way okay and I'm still lost in the maze let's take the road up there so I'll flag down another tempo get back up to ram jhula that is the ROM drew the bridge out there this is an icier Steen huh and check it out there is a third of the chori wallah restaurant there are two total restaurants over there that I showed in some other videos right next to each other I don't know if this is a brand new one or what but it looks very nice and I got a sweet Massie a Indian yogurt drink and so from here you can catch a boat over to the other side of the river how much ticket counter thank you one side ten rupees we'll take two actually and these are the Ghats these stone steps going down to the river and a beautiful sunset happening yeah.Uttrakhand is a holy land in country India .And Rishikesh makes it heaven. I recommend to all friends to visit once in life here.
